Raleigh Movers Who Know Both Ends of the Drive

A lot of the Raleigh moves we handle start or end somewhere else. Somebody gets a job offer near RTP and has to pack up a house in Jacksonville. A couple in North Raleigh finally retires to the coast after talking about it for ten years. A new ECU grad takes everything from a Greenville apartment west for their first real paycheck.

We’re a locally owned and operated moving company based in Jacksonville, and eastern North Carolina is home. Plenty of our work happens on the roads between the coast and the capital, and we know that drive well.

I’ll be straight with you up front: we don’t have an office in Raleigh. Our closest location is in Greenville, about an hour and a half east. Our trucks come from there, and we plan your move day around that drive. Travel time is written into your estimate before you sign anything, so it’s never a move day conversation.

What Moving in Raleigh Actually Looks Like

Raleigh isn’t one kind of move. It’s about five different kinds, depending on the neighborhood.

Downtown and Glenwood South mean apartment towers. Most of those buildings want an elevator reservation, a set loading window, and insurance paperwork from your mover before a truck gets anywhere near the dock. Ask your property manager for their move rules the day you sign your lease. Seriously. That one phone call saves more headaches than anything else we could tell you.

Older neighborhoods like Oakwood and Boylan Heights are beautiful and a little tricky. The streets are narrow, the oaks are huge, and the houses were built long before anybody tried carrying a sectional sofa up those front steps. We send crews who’ve done tight doorways and steep stairs before, and we bring extra padding for the woodwork.

North Hills, Brier Creek, and the newer subdivisions toward the edges of Wake County usually come with HOA rules about where a truck can park and what hours it can be there. We’ll work inside those rules. Just tell us what they are.

Then there’s the road itself. Rush hour on I-40 or the Beltline can wreck a schedule, so we plan arrival times around it.

There’s also the weather. In early spring, a yellow film of pine pollen covers every car in the city, and in summer the storms roll in around 3 p.m. like clockwork. Furniture gets wrapped either way.

Moves We Handle In and Out of Raleigh

Most of our Raleigh calls are for houses, apartments, and condos. That’s not all we do, though. We also take on:

  • Office and commercial moves, including after-hours work and furniture installation at the new space
  • Senior moves, where we slow things down and let the family set the pace
  • College moves, planned around each school’s housing calendar
  • Pianos, antiques, and artwork, with custom crates built for the pieces that need them
  • Packing at whatever level you want: the whole house, just the kitchen, or only the fragile stuff
  • Loading help for a U-Haul, Penske, or Budget truck you rented, or a PODS or U-Pack container in the driveway
  • Interstate moves when Raleigh is just the starting point

Not sure your job is a good fit? Call and ask. Odds are it is. And if it isn’t, we’ll say so.

Storage When Your Dates Don’t Line Up

Closings slip. A lease ends on the 31st, and the new place isn’t ready until the 6th. It happens all the time, and it’s not your fault.

Our storage covers exactly those gaps, anywhere from a few days to a couple of months. We pick everything up, keep it in a climate-controlled space, and bring it back once the keys are in your hand. It isn’t built for long-term storage, and we’d rather tell you that now than have you find out later.

Military Families Moving to the Triangle

Our headquarters sits on Bell Fork Road in Jacksonville, a few minutes from Camp Lejeune, so military moves are a big part of what we do. We see a steady stream of families leaving Lejeune, New River, or Cherry Point for the Raleigh area after a separation or retirement. Some are starting a civilian job. Others just want to be closer to family.

That last move out of military life feels different from a PCS. Nobody hands you a timeline, and you’re often job hunting at the same time. We get it. Active duty and retired service members get 5% off with us, and we’re glad to walk you through your options before you commit to anything.

How Pricing Works

There’s no single price for a Raleigh move, and anyone who quotes one over the phone without asking questions is guessing. Your cost comes down to how far we’re going, how much you’re moving, how many movers it takes, and extras like packing or crating.

Here’s how it goes. We walk through your home in person or over a video call, then send a free estimate with every charge listed. A small deposit holds your date. You pay the rest once the job is done, by cash, card, or certified check.

For timing, plan on two to four weeks of notice for moves within the area and four to six weeks for longer ones. Late spring through summer is our busiest stretch.

Licensed for the Move You’re Making

North Carolina regulates movers who handle household goods inside the state, and we’re licensed through the North Carolina Utilities Commission under NCUC-2623. Moves that cross state lines run under our USDOT number, 3995684. We’re insured, too.

Look up those numbers for any mover you’re considering, including us. It takes two minutes, and it’s the quickest way to weed out the outfits you don’t want touching your stuff.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do you have an office in Raleigh?

No. Our offices are in Jacksonville, Greenville, New Bern, and Havelock. Raleigh moves are handled out of Greenville, and the drive is accounted for in your estimate.

Distance is one of the things that shapes every estimate, so it plays a part. You’ll see exactly how before you book, and that number won’t change on move day unless the job itself changes.

Yes, and it’s one of the moves we do most. Eastern North Carolina is home base, so places like New Bern, Emerald Isle, Morehead City, and Wilmington are familiar ground for our crews.

Yes. Pass along your building manager’s contact info and their requirements, and we’ll get it to them ahead of time. Start this early, because some buildings take a few days to approve it.

Absolutely. A move from an apartment off Hillsborough Street to a house in North Raleigh is just as welcome as one headed out of state.

We can. Dorm and apartment move-outs pile up fast in May and August, so reach out a few weeks early. We’ll schedule around your housing office’s checkout window.
